Both the Honda CR-V and Nissan Rogue are available in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The Honda also gives you options under the hood, though. There’s a choice between a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine that gets up to 184 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque, and a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder that delivers 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque.
The Nissan Rogue doesn’t give you any choice. Only one engine is available and it’s not as powerful as either of the options in the Honda. The Nissan comes with a standard 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that can only provide you with 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque.
Passenger & Cargo Room
When comparing the Honda CR-V vs. Nissan Rogue, each offers comfortable seating for up to five people. Both SUVs offer a choice between cloth and leather seats, as well as lots of amenities to enhance your drive. The Honda gives you slightly more space to relax, though. It features 105.9 cubic feet of passenger space, while the Nissan comes up just short with 105.8 cubic feet.
The biggest difference between the two interiors is how much cargo they can hold. While each one offers a Hands-Free Access Power Tailgate and 60/40 split rear folding seats, the Honda CR-V features 75.8 cubic feet of cargo room. The Nissan Rogue falls a few cubic feet short. Its cargo capacity maxes out at only 70.0 cubic feet.
Safety & Driver Assistance Features
In addition to providing you with extra space, the 2019 Honda CR-V will also give you peace of mind. It was named a 2019 TOP SAFETY PICK by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) because of its safe design and driver assistance features, like the available Honda Sensing® technologies.[i]
The CR-V is built with an Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE™) Body Structure that can absorb the force from a collision and direct it away from the cabin. The interior is also protected by six airbags, including Side Curtain Airbags that cover both rows of seats.
To give you more awareness and prevent accidents during your drive, the Honda Sensing® system is also available. It watches out for your vehicle with features like:
- • Collision Mitigation Braking System™
- • Road Departure Mitigation System
- • Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow
- • Lane Keeping Assist System
The Nissan Rogue also offers lots of driver assistance features and comes with six standard airbags. However, without the smart design of the ACE™ Body Structure, it wasn’t able to earn any safety awards from IIHS.
