Fuel Economy

The 2019 Honda Clarity runs on a combination of an electric motor and a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine. Together they can produce up to 212 total system horsepower. To manage this combination, you’ll have an Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT).

When you’re on the road, the car will switch between the engine and the charge held by a 17-kilowatt lithium-ion battery.

On its own, the gas engine is able to get up to an EPA-estimated 44city/40 highway MPG[i]. When the car switches to the battery, it can provide you with an EPA-estimated 47-mile all-electric driving range[ii].

With the two power sources and the battery working in unison and switching off each other, you’ll get excellent fuel economy. The Honda Clarity has an EPA-estimated combined gas-electric driving range of up to 340 miles[iii].

Charging your hybrid is easy. Just plug it into a 240-volt charger and your sedan will have 100% battery life in just two and a half hours. It’s also compatible with your average 120-volt outlet.

Interior

The 2019 Honda Clarity has seating for up to five people. Its two rows of seats also contribute to its efficiency by offering plant-derived bio-fabric upholstery. Whether you’re behind the wheel or in the back seats, everyone can get comfortable with 101.5 cubic feet of passenger space.

Behind the back seats, there’s a roomy trunk with 15.5 cubic feet of cargo room. When you’ve got more to load, you can use the 60/40 split fold-down rear seats and make more space by accessing excess cabin space.

Up front, you can switch between driving modes by just pushing a button on your center console. You’ll have a choice between ECON Mode, Sport Mode, and HV Mode, which uses the engine to help charge the battery while you’re driving.

Infotainment System

The 2019 Honda Clarity also offers plenty of technology to help you enjoy the ride. There’s an 8-inch touchscreen in the center of your dashboard that offers everything from navigation to SiriusXM® Radio. Some of the other great features you’ll find include:

  • Apple CarPlay™
  • Android Auto™
  • Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®
  • SMS Text Message Function

When it comes to the instrument panel, you’ll be able to see how efficiently you’re driving and your current battery life directly in front of your steering wheel.
